Best structure for a UK-Ugandan Charity - please ?
I have been asked by a Ugandan charity to help set up a UK Charity "arm". Mainly for fundraising and grant applications.
I am thinking the simplest approach would be independent organisations which collaborate. But wondered if there was a better format - subsidiary etc. ??
How do others operate ?
Probably with strengths and weaknesses

Thank you
Peter

Yes I think that would be the easiest as even if you set up a UK charity to fundraise, grant makers (as a rule of thumb) like somebody to have 2 years records of accounts before they apply. I wouldn't know who to recommend - it would depend whether there are people on the ground in the UK already who would take on the fundraising. Ian Sanderson would be the best person to speak to regarding transferring money to Uganda with Gift Aid.

Also there are trusts which want applications from in-country and not from charities in the UK. The Hilden Trust is one of these and they have applications open at the moment.
